Institutional Framework

Our Mission

To engage national and international stakeholders including Sierra Leoneans overseas for broad consensus in protecting and promoting national interests, including seeking the welfare of Sierra Leoneans abroad and promoting growth and opportunities as a country striving towards middle-income status and a competitive contributor on the global stage.

Our Vision

To build a strong, dynamic and professionally endowed Foreign Service capable of advancing the national interest and positioning Sierra Leone as an effective and credible partner in promoting peace, security, stability and development at the sub-regional, regional and global levels as well as seeking to protect the interests of Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad.

Our Mandate

The primary responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation including its Missions abroad is to pursue Sierra Leone’s foreign policy objectives as enshrined in Chapter II, Section 10 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone and as the Government may dictate.
